"BattleZone Demo" Prototype (Two Versions)
"BattleZone Demo" Prototype Reproduction - TWO VERSIONS
About all of the Lynx games for sale here:
In the past year, I have been lucky enough to come across two sets of Lynx prototypes. One set was on eBay and the other was from a set of 3.5" floppy disks that some one gave me when I purchased something else from them. Both were from "legitimate" sources. A lot of them were just earlier versions of released games. However some, like "Ninja Nerd," Vindicators," "Eye of the Beholder," Daemonsgate," and others had never been seen before. I have recreated cartridges there. These are sturdy carts made with EPROM save RAM and 3D printed shells. They look and feel like regular Lynx carts. We have had the labels professionally designed and--for the most part--professionally printed. Enjoy!
About the game itself:
There are TWO versions of BattleZone here:
VERSION 1: "CES Version": This is a proof of concept. It lulls you into thinking there is going to be something playable and then SMACK, no, there is not. No, I could be wrong, maybe someone just needs to play with it more. I dunno.
The original prototype 's label was lost to the vagaries of time.
VERSION 2: "BATTLEZO.02" version: This was found on the floppy disks. It is a VERY playable game. There are enemy tanks that shoot and can be shot. It keeps score. It does NOT comlynx.
I will post screenshots and videos as soon as I have a chance. Here is a video of them (and others) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPeXvapioPs&t=35s
