History

So, here’s the deal:  We got a hold of a box of these from a company that cleaned out an Atari warehouse years ago and thought people might enjoy owning it.  What is it?  Is the the sound board for the Atari Panther game console!  Never heard of a Panther?  Well, that is not surprising since it never made it past a couple of complete prototypes before being cancelled.  However, if these are out there, it would stand to reason that there might be some more motherboards out there as well.

From what we can tell, this went as a daughterboard on the main Panther motherboard. If you look at the last picture I have included (from homecomputer.de/pages/panther) you can see the OTIS board installed in the Panther itself.

Specifications

o   This auction is JUST for the OTIS sound board for the Atari Panther NO PANTHER IS INCLUDED (animal or otherwise)

o   The main sounds chip is socketed, so you could play with it outside of the board if you were so inclined.  I have a closeup of the chip in the pictures.
