This is an add-in board that goes under the GTIA in the Atari 5200, all Atari 8-bit computers (400/800/XL/XE), including the 1088XEL or XLD.  It consists of two boards: one board is inserted into the GTIA socket and the GTIA chip is inserted into the Sophia main board; the second board holds the DVI connector and is attached to the first by a ribbon cable (included).

NOTE 1:  If your 5200 is NOT socketed, you will have to de-solder the GTIA and install a 40 pin socket.  This would be very unusual as all of the 5200s I have seen are socketed (yes, even 2ports.  That does NOT necessarily mean yours is socketed, I am just saying).

NOTE 2: If you are installing this in a 4 port 5200, you do NOT need to modify your machine to not use the switch box, it will still work, RF will still be present.

NOTE 3: If you do not wish to modify your case, the cable is usually long enough to fit out of the back, just put shrink-tubing/electrical tape around the DVI connector to avoid shorting it out.

*=Not all televisions are compatible via HDMI.  I have found that Sony 3D televisions do not work.
