What is this?  This is a variation on the 1088XLD.  In conjunction with MyTek (AtariAge) and DropCheck (Bits of the Past & AtariAge), we are offering you a modified 1088XLD.  This is NOT a kit.  It is a fully formed completely tested machine.

You will still have MIDI built in (it moves to the rear of the XLD) as well as **everything** the current version of the XLD provides (see the description after)!

What will this option include:

1.  Custom faceplate on the 1088XLD (this replaces the standard faceplate on the XLD)

2.  Custom backplane installed in the 1088XLD modified 1050 case

3. Printer port with Supra MicroPrint compatible firmware builtin.

4. SP8266 based ESP-07 Wifi Board with modified C64Net WiFi Firmware and external antenna for extended wifi range.

The firmware simulates the old-style Hayes "AT" commands, so that the ESP8266 appears to the Atari as if it were a Hayes modem.  These "AT" commands may then be issued to the ESP8266 in order to force it to connect to a wireless access point, and from there to make a manageable connection to an internet based BBS system.   On the Atari side, terminal software such as Bobterm 1.21 with the Rverter handler preloaded on boot up has been tested to work.  Other terminal software may also work, if they have or can support an Rverter handler. )

5. Front cartridge port w/ 800XL style front cartridge guide.

6.  Motor Control switch to toggle between WiFi and MIDI

7.  User manual for the WiFi2SIO.

8.  All circuit boards will be black (no other colors will be available as an option)

1088XLD  1050 Form Factor Atari 8-Bit

This is a complete ground up redesign of the Atari 8-Bit Computer Motherboard, created with an emphasis on more modern methods of mass storage/retrieval, beyond floppies, and beyond cartridges.

With it's built-in IDE interface and the Ultimate One Megabyte's advanced firmware, an attached CF Drive adapter will greatly exceed the capabilities of all other disk drives that came before it, including an actual hard disk drive.

The EXTERNAL cartridge port is easily access from the front panel of the 1088XLD I/O ModSystem.  It will play all of your favorite game cartridges as well as any (Left Slot) utility cartridge you wish.

Advanced Music and MIDI Capabilities
If you ever found yourself envious of the C-64's renowned SID chip, a precursor to the Apple IIGS Ensoniq wavetable synthesis sound chip, no longer will this be the case. Because when it comes to sound effects and music, the XLD's built-in Dream Blaster MIDI Synthesizer capability outshines them all. Couple this with dual Pokey chips, and you have the ultimate audio experience in full stereophonic sound.

And did we mention MIDI? The 1088XLD provides a MIDIMATE compatible MIDI interface, sporting not only the typical MIDI-IN and MIDI-OUT jacks, but also a MIDI-THRU. Utilizing the Synth Source select switch, either MIDI-OUT or MIDI-IN can be directed at the internal S2 module that we talked about earlier, or simply routed out to an external MIDI device of your choosing.

PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard
Uses any PS/2 device and converts it into a form that the Atari OS will understand, while also bringing advanced macro functionality, independent of any constraints of existing programs and applications.

Next Generation Video
Because of it's inclusive UAV video board, the standard composite and S-Video sources are of a quality rarely ever seen on any Atari 8-bit computer. And with an easy upgrade path for either a VBXE or a Sophia video board, beautiful RGB output is also possible in tandem with the standard video, or in lieu of.

Captures that Original Atari Look

To really give it a truly XL flavor, this imaginative re-creation uses a form factor that will drop directly into a virtually unmodified, non-working, and long abandoned Atari 1050 Floppy Drive case. Bringing new life to where there was none before.
